A photography assignment is a commitment of time, resources, and money. Creating high-quality images on location presents a complex series of opportunities. Thorough planning and communication among the client, photographer, location owner and representatives at the site can help ensure maximum efficiency and productivity (see Architectural Checklist).
A shoot list of the images to be shot is the general basis for the estimate.
When preparing an estimate, I consider many factors including the assignment description, the complexity and scope of the assignment, the clients intended use of the images, time of day or evening, deadlines, materials, travel costs, props, talent if any, crew, and my overhead when estimating what an assignment will cost. Addionally I must consider the digital post production manipulations necessary for the project (see Digital Imaging).
The more accurately you can describe your needs, the more accurately I can estimate the cost.
